JESSE
I wrote this during a Carolyn Conger 5 day consciousness seminar given at a ranch near Sacramento. The ranch owner was looking after her long absent son’s big gray dog Jesse. IN THE FIERCE, DEAR WINDS OF OUR SEARCHING,
IN THE DAUNTING ELUSIVENESS OF OUR POSSIBILITIES,
IN OUR THIRSTING AFTER AWARENESS ITSELF,
ARE WE OVERLOOKING
THE MOST MAJESTIC CREATURE IN OUR MIDST? ASSAULTED BY AGE
SHE WANDERS AND WANDERS AND WANDERS,
ENDLESSLY SEARCHING TOO
FOR ONE LONG ABSENT.
HE
SEACHANGE
FAR FAR OUT
BEYOND THE FAR HORIZON
WAY BEYOND US
WIND SWEPT SWELLS
RISE INTO BEING
LONGING FOR THIS SHORE ON AND ON THEY ROLL
BENEATH THE ENDESS SKY
ON AND ON
ONE BY ONE
TOWARD THE DISTANT
WAITING SAND THEN, SO NEAR
THEIR RECEDING KIN
RAISE THEM UP
ONE BY ONE
TO A GLORIOUS PEAK
CURVING, CRASHING DOWN
RUSHING TOWARD
THEIR BELOVED SHORE
REACHING REACHING FORWARD
WITH ALL THEIR WANING MIGHT
TILL
AT LAST
THEY STOP
END
RECEDE
TO TOPPLE THEIR NEXT OF KIN ©

Be Fluid With Change
Just as our mental and physical energies are always moving between states of expansion and contraction, or activity and rest, the world around us, and in fact the whole universe, is doing the same. Everything changes. In every moment, everything is changing in some way. I like the line from the movie, Phenomenon, where the dying protagonist says, “Everything is on its way to somewhere.” It’s a blessing that we don’t usually notice this, or life would seem unstable.
