Reserve your memorial tickets
We are looking forward to seeing you in September for Carolyn’s memorial gathering. Because many of us wanted more time with the community at Asilomar, we have expanded the celebration of Carolyn's life to include gatherings Friday night and Sunday morning. After the welcome dinner Friday night, we will gather to share stories and drinks around a bonfire. Additionally, after breakfast on Sunday, we have added a closing ceremony. There will be other opportunities to meet throughout the weekend. Please see the schedule on the website for details.
We have learned that despite booking hotel rooms individually, Asilomar still requires us to register and prepay for all meals as a group in order to eat in the dining hall. We've planned these group meals for the welcome dinner Friday (9/15), breakfast and lunch Saturday (9/16), the memorial dinner Saturday (9/16), and breakfast before the closing ceremony on Sunday (9/17). If you've already made a donation, we'll email you a credit toward your weekend ticket/s. For those planning to attend but who have not yet made a donation, you may reserve your ticket/s for all weekend, or you may select individual gatherings and meals you wish to attend, depending on your schedule and preferences. Another option at Asilomar is Phoebe’s Cafe, which offers quiche, sandwiches, and light meals.
The suggested amount each day varies depending on the shared cost of that day's meals and meeting spaces. Prices include all taxes, fees, and gratuities. An alcoholic beverage will also be provided at Friday’s bonfire and Saturday’s memorial party. To see the various options, just click on "view more options" beneath the "tickets" section on the memorial event page. Thank you in advance for helping us to meet Asilomar's requirements so we can be together in this special place.
We know Carolyn is smiling down on us as we prepare to gather in her honor. One of her best qualities as a teacher was that she never placed herself at the center of the community, but understood she could be a conduit for its creation. Her teaching lives on within each of us, and it will be a joy to celebrate this legacy together. We hope to see you soon!
If you would like to donate in lieu of flowers to help cover memorial and palliative care expenses, you may do so here.
With love,
Carolyn's team
